Our Vision

The vision of the d传媒国产剧鈥檚 Physical Therapy Program      (ASU PT) is to graduate entry-level physical therapists who are committed to lifelong learning, responsive to the evolving healthcare environment, and dedicated to evidence-informed practice. Through excellence in education and service, graduates will be prepared to meet the diverse healthcare needs of individuals and communities, with a particular focus on improving access to care and health outcomes in medically underserved areas/populations.

 

Our Mission

The mission of the ASU PT program is to educate and graduate reflective, culturally responsive physical therapists who demonstrate professional excellence, lifelong learning, ethical practice, and evidence-based      decision-making in an increasingly diverse and global society. The program is committed to advancing health equity and improving the health and          well-being of underserved and underrepresented populations through the preparation of practitioners who reflect the communities they serve and who are dedicated to service, advocacy, and leadership within the profession and society.

 

Our Philosophy

The philosophy of the ASU PT program is grounded in the belief that the physical, biological, and social sciences provide the foundational knowledge essential to physical therapy education, scholarship, and clinical practice. The program recognizes that effective physical therapy care requires the integration and application of these scientific principles in the prevention, examination, evaluation, and intervention processes. Through this integration, practitioners develop a comprehensive understanding of the physical, psychological, and social dimensions of health, thereby enhancing the quality and effectiveness of patient management.

The program further acknowledges that individual, cultural, and social drivers of health exert a significant influence on health, illness, disability, recovery, and overall well-being. Accordingly, these concepts are intentionally embedded throughout the didactic and clinical curricula to prepare graduates to deliver culturally responsive, patient-centered care and to achieve meaningful health outcomes across diverse populations.

ASU PT also embraces the belief that learning is an active, collaborative, and lifelong process. The program fosters an educational environment that promotes critical inquiry, reflective practice, professional responsibility, and evidence-informed decision-making. Learning is most effective when the following conditions are present:

1. Learning objectives are clearly defined, achievable, and meaningful to the learner.
2. A variety of educational experiences are intentionally designed to facilitate the attainment of learning objectives and are sequenced to promote continuity, reinforcement, integration, and the progressive development of knowledge and skills.
3. Learners are provided opportunities to engage in critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and problem-solving through the application of knowledge, concepts, and principles across diverse contexts and situations.
4. Individual learner characteristics and environmental factors are recognized and addressed to support diverse learning needs and optimize educational outcomes.
5. The learning process results in measurable outcomes that demonstrate the achievement of established educational objectives and competencies.

The ASU PT program believes that students learn and develop most effectively within a supportive, inclusive, and nurturing educational environment. The program is committed to providing comprehensive academic advising and professional mentoring that enable students to identify and articulate their learning needs, engage in self-assessment, and cultivate the habits of lifelong learning and professional growth.

The program further believes that physical therapy education should prepare students to function as competent, ethical, and reflective practitioners who are responsive to the needs of the individuals and communities they serve. Through a curriculum based in evidence-informed practice, critical inquiry, and contemporary professional standards, ASU PT fosters an educational environment that promotes clinical excellence, cultural humility, professional accountability, and exemplary professional behavior.

As a professional doctoral program, ASU PT is charged with preparing    entry-level physical therapy practitioners who can provide high-quality physical therapy services across diverse practice settings. The program is dedicated to developing graduates who practice with competence, compassion, autonomy, and cultural responsiveness while contributing meaningfully to the health and well-being of their communities.

The program also recognizes that the profession of physical therapy exists within an evolving healthcare landscape. Accordingly, ASU PT prepares graduates to respond effectively to emerging challenges and opportunities in healthcare, advances in scientific knowledge, changing societal needs, and the continued development of the physical therapy profession. Through this preparation, graduates are prepared to assume leadership roles, engage in lifelong learning, and adapt to the dynamic demands of professional practice.
