Recovering from an injury or developing the skills needed for activities of daily living and working can be stressful. Health Sciences majors who are considerate and empathetic would flourish as occupational therapists working closely with people who suffer from disabilities or who are recovering.
Our three-year Doctorate in Physical Therapy is ideal for Health Sciences majors who hold a degree in a health care field and want to specialize in helping people with deficits in mobility to maximize their quality of life through rehabilitation, including prevention, wellness, fitness, health promotion and management of disease and disability.
As the only one of its kind at an HBCU (and one of only 13 in the country) that offers a Master of Science in Prosthetics and Orthotics, Health Sciences majors from this program are sought-after around the world for their expertise, empathy and experience assessing and implementing treatment plans for individuals with limb loss or deficiencies in nontraditional and marginalized populations.
For Health Sciences majors who want to become social justice advocates and work to destigmatize disability, our bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 programs in Rehabilitation Studies will prepare you for health sciences jobs in the professions of rehabilitation, social and human services, allied health and counseling.

The College of Health Sciences offers six-degree programs, including Bachelor of Science degrees in Health Information Management and Rehabilitation Services (with a concentration in Addiction Studies). Graduate programs include the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and the Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (OTD). The Master of Science in Prosthetics and Orthotics (MSPO) and the Master of Rehabilitation Counseling (MRC).
